the water was freezing this one evening...short arm full suit (wetsuit) for all the surfers

the one thing i see here in japan is there passion for the beach

people just one to take part in it and surfing

in hawaii i hear a lot of grumbling...these people in the picture having fun no matter how cold

i have a lot of respect for any one of them who comes to hawaii to enjoy are beach...let them have a wave or too of yours..its paradise for them

Kaito did the Cadet division in the ASP Junior Event in Shonan Japan.

He did very well by being smart finding his own peak and adapting quick to the changing beach break conditions.

Kaito made it to the quarters as conditions got very very small. In the quaters he was unable to find a decent scoring wave ( one that you could do two pumps and a turn...haha) and went down.

But he did good for the comp making it to the main round and keeping his seed high.

In between heats he did some pictures for one of the surf mags in Japan

Kaito getting ready for his Heat.

In his first division he was in 2nd Place for 18 of the 20 minutes good enough to advance, 3rd place needed a 2.5 score....in the last minute...Kaito blocked him of a good wave....the other surfer was pissed splashing water...then another wave was behind and he got the score.

Kaito got pushed into 3rd place....it was hard for him to go down like that...definitely a learning experience...its his first few big events where scores are being read over the PA....with that Kaito is learning the dirty truth on how to sit on people and block them..its seems like being a jerk but its a stategy that all winners must use sometimes. Kaito was doing good at the end by blocking but there are so many little things that can happen.

I'm glad he did not back down..his confidence is showing..... and his desire and determination to advance.

..I swear the guy and the PA wouldn't shut up about telling 3rd Place what he needed to overtake Kaito...haha.....nah it just felt that way.....

So you may always see a picture of Shonan with a million people....but the truth is you can always get a wave..its like Barbers ( lots of people sometimes but lots of peaks you just got hunt down waves).....me and Kaito have always found a little spot for us....here's a picture of one.

Here is a picture of the beach at Shonan. The waves are like surfing surfing weak waves in Ewa Beach after North Shore has run-off from a crazy storm and you take out some salt from the water and mix in fresh water so you have even a harder time surfing,....then add in the crowd from Queens, Canoes and Barbers.

The funny thing is I don't even mind and I'm having fun surfing.....I don't even feel like it's Japan....and feel right at home.....I know some people won't be surprised by that!!!.....HAHA

So yesterday I stayed up for 24hrs and still felt pretty good, we surfed in Shonan, my friends know I love small weak waves.......but this was pretty weak..haha..I had lots of fun...but I know most of my friends would be over it..haha....a bit crowded...... but me and Kaito had lots of fun.!!!

This car has a back up cam, side view cams, when your not using GPS.

It projects the angle of your turn while you back up so you can see how you will line up in the stall as you go, but its like 3 steps ahead of you, like those "head up displays" in a fighter jet.

sorry the video is at night but you can still see the screen, then it changes to side view, and back to back up view
